Hi Julie,
I handed this freewrite to my two oldest this morning and they both decided to write poems. I thought they both did a great job, and they were both excited by what they had written. When I told them that sometimes you put kids writing on some of your online venues they asked me to send a copy of their poems to you!! (p.s. I completely understand that you get reams of writing!!)
As an aside- before bravewritier, my son equated writing with a large plateful of yams (he detests yams!)
Here is my daughter’s, age 9:
When the fish bites
When the dark comes
When I’m feeling sad
I simply remember some beautiful things
And then I don’t feel so bad
>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Silver-white snow flakes
And flowers that God makes
A mighty old oak tree
And fishes in the sea
Little brown sparrows
With sun on their wings
These are a few beautiful things
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I’ll send my sons when he finishes typing it up.
Cheers,
Kristie
