Tuesday Teatime: Jewish tea
Today my mum and I had tea time. Although it’s summer, drinking hot tea wasn’t bad at all. Since we live an hour away from the ocean, our town gets a cold breeze everyday that cools the summer weather down.
Since my mum has her degree in piano performance, she began tea time by playing the piano. First she played Chopin: Fantasie-Impromptu in C-sharp minor. Then she played Clair de Lune by memory!
After the piano performances, my mum and I put on Jewish kippots to give our tea time a Jewish twist. My mum then dished out Jewish brownies we had made that morning. My taste buds tingled with delight as I took the first bite. They were the most delicious brownies I have ever tasted.
During tea I read several books out loud from my personal library. I read several stories from Aesop’s Fables and poems from Celebrate Young Poets Speak Out. I also read a couple pages from Sense and Sensibility.
Our dog, Emmaline, loves tea too. Her favorite tea is apple cinnamon with a little bit of honey.
