Podcast: Big Juicy Conversations
After a long, dark slumber, we return! In fact, we recorded this podcast a couple months after recording the previous, Englishes, but because of complications in life, it sat forgotten and ignored on the Internet. No links, no listeners, no happiness. No more!
Please join us as we tackle a topic close to my heart, Big Juicy Conversations!
Please post a review on Apple Podcasts for us (here’s a handy guide)?
Help a homeschooler like you find more joy in the journey. Thanks!
Love your podcasts. Please keep them coming.
Thank you for this! I had just decided to try more narration and this gave me a new (realistic?) perspective and (helpful, age appropriate!) ideas. I really hope that you make more podcasts. I’d love to hear your take on Charlotte Mason, for example. Thanks again!
I can’t seem to find this podcast. A friend sent me a link, and I saw it on a recent post, and searched back, and still can’t seem to find anything to listen to. Where is it? Thanks,
Libby Jane
It’s right in the post itself – the player should show. Try a different browser like Chrome or Safari. But I see it!
Thanks! I can’t view it but that’s life.
Libby, email me and I’ll see if I can send it to you as an MP3 file. 🙂
I see the player but nothing happens when I click play. 🙂 Do I have to subscribe to something in order for me to be able to play it?
Oh man, I clicked on the player last night and today and it didn’t work. THEN just after I posted that comment it decides to work. Funny!
Glad! Silly Internet. 🙂

This is wonderful! I wish I had heard this years ago when I first heard about narration. I had read about it in Charlotte Mason’s original works, but I had no idea how to actually “do” it. I actually stopped doing narration formally after awhile after hanging around some CM forums where I felt totally inadequate because I WASN’T requiring narration of every single book and chapter. It all left a bad taste in my mouth, and my children hated it so I stopped…it turns out my instincts were right, which is what this podcast brought out.
The funny thing is that I automatically am programmed to have these big juicy conversations, and we do it often…I just never realized it was the same as narration! Thank you for setting me free from another burden that I didn’t even realize I was carrying around (i.e. feeling bad all these years because I stopped doing narration “in the wrong way”)
Joyful Mom, I love reading your responses to the blog. Thank you for always engaging the material. I’m glad to validate the good instincts you’ve already got! Shows that the pair of us are thinking along the same lines, which is also validating to me!
Have a great upcoming year!
Julie
It’s so great to have a found a “kindred spirit” in Bravewriter…validating what I knew deep down to be true
When do you plan to do the followup podcast about CM that you mentioned? I know it will be different with Noah going to CT (by the way, I’m from CT (but haven’t lived there for a long time) and a UCONN alumna for my doctorate)
Noah is back home! He’s here to save up money to move to NYC so we plan to get back to podcasting together soon. I’m under the gun to get the fall for BW off the ground, but then we’ll be back into the swing of it. 🙂

Hi Julie!
Just read these articless you wrote – “How To Deschool” and “Take Learning Rests”, which somehow lead me to this podcast. How wonderful and wise and oh-so-encouraging! Thank you for taking the time to pen/record these things for us moms. I’m wondering if I can download this podcast to listen to on the ipod while I’m out walking/etc.??? I don’t see a download link, and thought that I would just ask you if that is possible.
Hi, Heather!
I asked Julie about this and you might try opening the podcast and then clicking “save as” to your computer.
Also, the podcasts are available through iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/ca/podcast/brave-writers-life-in-brief/
Thanks!
