This is a Test: Be Gentle
This is a test. An experimentation, even! How exciting. Noah (oldest son) helped me, and we do have real content about writing and Brave Writer and your role in the process.
But this is the test podcast… and future podcasts should be bettah—with more detail, content, and yes, even sound effects!
Cheers,
Julie
I would love a Brave Writer podcast! Any chance of it being uploaded to ITunes, or even better, to Stitcher Smart Radio? I’m one to listen on my phone while doing other things. Thanks!
Yes! We just applied for the iTunes feed and that’s why this little podcast exists. They sent the notification that they received our feed application and we’ll get confirmation of its existence in a few days. Announcement here. 🙂

This is such a fantastic idea! After seeing you at the VaHomeschoolers Conference in person, I would definitely love to get more of a regular dose of “in person” Brave Writer philosophy. I have friends who were not able to attend who I am sure would love to hear you as well.
Love the “nana” story…so, so true and such a good point to keep in mind…
I bought Brave Writer last year and read through it, but I haven’t applied it very well through this school year. This podcast was a good shot in the arm to look it over again. I needed to hear what you said about writing developing much like speech develops. I need more of these mini-sessions with you. I look forward to hearing more.
Correction: I didn’t buy Brave Writer, I bought The Writer’s Jungle! Silly me!
This is fabulous Julie & Noah. I love your philosophy. I love “The Writer’s Jungle”. I laughed out loud at the end… speech curriculum. Fabulous stuff!
Can’t wait for more.
Thank you! I just love the quality of your relationship with Noah…it comes through loud and clear. And that is really what we all strive for with our children in homeschooling, isn’t it? It’s not about being able to check off boxes on our “to do” list 🙂
Thank you Nanci! I’ll be sure to pass that on to Noah. We’re having a really good time doing this together. It’s like a weekly trip back in time.
Tonight is Brave Writer podcast night for me. Loved this! It’s sad how often I need to hear the same message over and over – I homeschool to foster relationship! – but it’s good to know I have somewhere to go to hear this when I need it. Thank you 🙂 Lots of good info, but I came away with this quote this time around: “What the editor’s job is, is to help the writer say the things that she means to say, and to say them in the most effective and powerful way so that the audience is responsive and able to receive whatever the intended communication is.” Yes! This is all positive feedback. Nothing in that description of an editor’s job was negative, scary, embarrassing or makes the writer feel unduly vulnerable. That underlayer of trust is so important.
What a data of un-ambiguity and preserveness of
precious knowledge regarding unpredicted emotions.
